The Importance of Clean Label - Revisited
A while ago we wrote about the importance to consumers of clean label, an ingredients list that is as short and natural as possible.
The ingredients in our smRt pasta range are very few and far between: organic durum wheat semolina flour, organic seaweed (around 2%) and water (again, 2%). Even the gluten-free fusilli option only has organic rice flour instead of durum wheat flour.
Maybe you’re used to your snack bars - protein, energy, etc - having a ton of scientific and artificial-sounding ingredients, things like stabilisers and what not. There are only 5 natural ingredients in the cocoa bar: dates, cashew nuts, cocoa of course, raisins and seaweed. smRt health bars are available in three flavours: mint, orange and the cocoa. The mint and orange flavours also contain natural flavouring oils, which takes their ingredients list to a very respectable 6.
We’re guilty of blowing our own trumpet here, but the smRt health bars taste great, and taste is the most important factor for the vast majority of consumers like you and us. They’re very ‘moreish’ too, so watch your intake, as each bar provides you with 84% of your recommended daily allowance of iodine. Your daily iodine RI (‘Reference Intake) is 150μg, but your upper tolerable limit is 600μg, so you can have two of them the odd day, but don’t go mad.
Organic, with sustainably sourced seaweed for health benefits, only a handful of natural ingredients, ideal for vegans, vegetarians, professional, amateur and armchair athletes…it would be hard to go wrong.
You can find out more about the smRt pasta range here, and order them online here. We’ll also be updating our list of stockists soon, so please watch this space for that. It’ll be longer than the list of smRt bar ingredients…
